The new football season is well under away, putting behind us those long summer months surviving on pre-season gossip and transfer rumour! With all televised games available to view at the Appleby Inn we hope to welcome you to enjoy the excitement of the live football at our establishment.
Regular visitors will know that the Appleby Inn differs from the rowdy atmosphere a town pub can generate. With two screens in intimate rooms you can enjoy the game in a relaxed, comfortable, non intrusive atmosphere without the need to jostle for viewing position. We also show the game that is requested first so if there is a fixture you are desperate to see call our team to ask what game we will be showing on the specific day!
The premier league is the highlight of our live football showings and the main draw for customers coming to view the live games, this is not to say we are not partial to a nitty gritty league two fixture, especially with myself being a long suffering Coventry City fan! Whilst indulging in some throwaway football chat after work we recalled some of the premier leagues greatest moments, from Keegan’s rant to the last minute Ageurrooooooo goal for City, and you cannot go into a conversation about great premier league moments without mentioning the remarkable Leicester City title win, some of our regular customers are still basking in the glory! Along with the much repeated premier league finest moments chat we turned our attention to live football in the Appleby Inn and the love of watching a game with a quality kept pint along with delicious food and started to liken our offerings to premier league players past and present. We decided our Stack Burger has the qualities of Alan Shearer – popular, hearty and rugged. The Red Pesto Pasta would definitely take on the same characteristics as Cantona, alternative, edgy and superb value — although not everyones cup of tea. Our famous Steak Pie is definitely in the same bracket as Frank Lampard, homemade, British, consistent and a stand out performer over many years, and I will finish with comparisons between our continental lager Peroni Nastro Azzurro and Paulo Di Canio both stylish, elegant, silky smooth but does go down a bit too easily!
So on offer at the Appleby Inn, live football, a friendly welcome and most likely if you dare to engage us more inane football chat! In the words of Keegan, we would love it, LOVE IT, if you were to come along to watch the game.
